MGI (booth 3217) announced the sale and installation of multiple JETvarnish digital inkjet spot UV coater units at GRAPH EXPO. The JETvarnish is the only unit of its kind commercially available in the graphics market and received 2010 Encore Must See ‘em recognition.
Clear Story, a specialized photo and digital publishing agency in San Diego, CA, selected MGI’s JETvarnish (along with the DF360), for its versatility and efficiency. “With the JETvarnish, we will be at the forefront of creativity and can offer our customers customization that they can’t get anywhere else,” says Debara Medina, CEO of Clear Story (pictured right). “The addition of spot UV coating will add a whole new dimension to our customer’s stories.”
Friesens, located in Altona, Manitoba (Canada), installed a JETvarnish in July 2010. As one of the largest independent book manufacturers in Canada, Friesens utilizes the JETvarnish to bring previously outsourced capabilities in-house.
“Our market is drawn to UV and the ability to spot UV hardcovers, softcovers and dustjackets immediately after lamination has allowed us to move UV covers through our finishing process more quickly than before,” says Byron Loeppky, VP of Operations for Friesens. “The quality it delivers in a production environment equals what we experienced during our evaluation process . We feel confident that the JETvarnish will achieve the goals established to make this a successful installation.”
MGI also confirmed two international orders at GRAPH EXPO—Lorimer in Melbourne, Australia, and Atual Card in Curitiva, Brazil, both commercial printers.
