GPO Launches Book Blog

The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) launched a new government book blog to bring greater attention to federal publications. Government Book Talk reviews new and popular publications, provides information about new publications, discusses some out-of-print classics and updates readers on GPO’s information dissemination activities. The blog includes information on everything from the health care reform legislation to older publications such as Department of Agriculture pamphlets from the 1920s.

“The blog gives the public an indication of the many different federal publications that are available at GPO’s Bookstore,” said Publications and Information Sales Managing Director Davita Vance-Cooks. “Blogging is an important communications tool and GPO is always looking for new ways to communicate with the public. With Government Book Talk, GPO can reach a wider audience while informing readers about the extensive assortment of federal publications.”

GPO’s Publication and Information Sales business unit is responsible for selling select government print and electronic publications to the public. Selected publications are available for sale through commercial sales channels, including chain and online bookstores and major book wholesalers.
