Solar Communications Sells Card Deck Assets to Schmidt Printing, Ceasing Operations
Solar Communications Inc. of Naperville, Ill., announced the sale of its cooperative direct mail line of business, printed paper-poly technology and collating assets to the Schmidt Printing Co., a division of The Taylor Corp. located in North Mankato, Minn.
All activity associated with Solar’s card pack business will now be handled out of Schmidt Printing’s facilities in Byron, Minn.
Additionally, via an orderly liquidation, Solar will cease all remaining print and mailing operations at its Naperville facility as of July 1. An excess equipment auction coordinated by the Great American Group will take place on June 30.
Established in 1961, Solar Communications grew from a small family printing business to one of the largest providers of marketing production services in the United States. Over the 48 years of its existence, Solar created many win/win outcomes for thousands of stakeholders and received numerous accolades and awards for innovation, management, quality and service.
