Commercial printers looking to strengthen their businesses and expand their capabilities are investigating and investing in new technologies. Digital and wide-format printing have proven to be significant opportunities and offer the means to grow and diversify. Now, inkjet technology is making a huge impact in the printing industry, similar to CtP in the mid-1990s, and Fujifilm has made significant investments in inkjet technologies. Printers are looking for a partner to provide support and innovation, and help guide their businesses into the future. Fujifilm (Booth 627) is committed to its customers’ needs and has developed a portfolio of products, solutions, and services designed to do just that.
Production print solutions
The newest addition to the industry-leading Inca Onset Series is the Onset S40 wide-format UV flatbed inkjet printer, available exclusively from Fujifilm, prints up to 5,059 sq.ft./hr at throughput speeds of 94 full bed (63x123.6") sheets/hour onto a wide variety of substrates up to 2" thick, including plastic, metal, and board stock.
A breakthrough in UV-LED inkjet printing technology, the Acuity LED wide-format inkjet printer incorporates an innovative, patent-pending ink-curing system. Reaching print speeds up to 258 sq.ft./hour, the Acuity LED provides eight colors standard, uses specialized Fujifilm fast-curing UV inks, and allows printing of white or clear ink in a single pass. Using the new Fujifilm Dimatix Q-Class grayscale printheads, the printer is capable of achieving true 1200x1200 dpi resolution.
The Acuity Advance HS UV flatbed printer offers photographic quality printing at speeds of 430 sq.ft./hour—85% faster than previous Acuity Advance printers. An express mode allows speeds over 700 sq.ft./hour, giving printers unmatched performance for the price. The Acuity HS provides precise registration and edge-to-edge printing that saves time, labor, and material. The roll media option makes it a cost-effective UV roll solution for printing onto flexible materials.
The new Uvistar2 high-speed UV roll printer provides higher print quality and greater productivity. Uvistar2 features new Parallel Drop Size (PDS) technology, which enables printing both 20- and 40-picoliter drops in the same pass, producing better image quality without compromising speed. It also produces more accurate drop placement and improved fine text quality, especially at fast production speeds.
Also in the Fujifilm booth, the Xerox Color 1000/800 Press prints 80 to 100 pages per minute, (depending on configuration) on a large variety of coated and uncoated stocks. Perhaps its most impressive feature is the optional Clear Dry Ink, offering print buyers more creative freedom because it supports inventive spot finishes and effects that would otherwise require processing through additional equipment.
Innovative CtP solutions on display include the newest Dart 4-up, high-speed platesetter that can comfortably and consistently output up to 21 plates per hour, and Fujifilm Brillia HD digital plates, which accommodate long-, medium-, and short-run applications and give printers faster makereadies and superior image quality.
Innovative new software solutions will be shown, including Fujifilm’s ColorPath Sync, a Web-based tool for creating color curves, aligning output devices, and ensuring color consistency across platforms and locations. Backed by Fujifilm’s industry-leading expertise in color consistency, ColorPath Sync allows printers to match output devices and maintain the consistency they achieved when first implementing the G7 specification.
