ACTEGA Kelstar (Booth 2639) and ACTEGA WIT recently inaugurated the joint NAFTA Innovation Laboratory. The facility will accommodate ACTEGA Kelstar’s R&D and technical service labs for the aqueous, UV, and fountain solution product lines and the newly formed Innovation Team.
“Our brand new lab facility emphasizes our continued commitment to superior products and services for the printing industry,” says Jim Wittig, Vice President of Innovation, who will lead this team. “Due to the continuous flow of products as well as improved quality control, the ACTEGA Graphic Arts customers will significantly benefit.” Wittig will be accompanied by Dr. John Arnold, who adds extensive knowledge and experience in the formulating of UV-curable coatings and adhesives. The team brings a total of 60 years of experience to the newly formed organization and jointly holds 10 patents. The Innovation Team will focus on the development of cutting-edge technologies for both ACETGA WIT and ACTEGA Kelstar customers.
At GRAPH EXPO, ACTEGA Kelstar will demonstrate Ultrasheen UV-9058DG, a coating specially formulated to promote adhesion to toner-based inks.
Over the past five to eight years, during which time digital has become popular, ACTEGA Kelstar identified the issue with adhesion. Adding a heating element between the UV application and the UV lights helps to improve adhesion, but does not always resolve the issue.
The high performance formulation of UV-9058DG has been proven to work on many occasions and has led to the elimination of these adhesion issues, even in the most extreme cases.
