NPES Helps Members Identify Growing International Markets

Thomas Friedman, in his best selling book “The World is Flat,” clearly illustrated the global nature of doing business in the 21st century. The printing industry has participated in the global economy for centuries and represents a $700 billion-plus industry worldwide.

While the U.S. continues to be the global leader in the industry, developing regions of the world are growing at much faster rates than the developed regions. Any manufacturer whose market focus is only on North America is leaving significant dollars on the table.

To assist member companies in identifying the markets with the best potential for sales, NPES, The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies (Room S102a) has operated a dynamic and aggressive international trade program for decades. NPES operates offices or has representatives in Brazil, Russia, India, Japan, and China—the fastest growing markets worldwide—but also focuses on other emerging regions such as Central/Eastern Europe, Mexico/Central America, and the Middle East.

To further help members understand the current market opportunity in the Latin American region, NPES is presenting a program entitled “Success Formulas for Doing Business in Latin America.” The program will take place today from 4:15 – 6:00 pm in Room S103a. The site for this program is conveniently located near the hotel shuttle bus departure/drop-off area.

After the presentation, a networking reception will provide an excellent opportunity for GRAPH EXPO exhibitors to meet and develop relationships with Latin American printers. Registration is free, but please notify NPES of your attendance plans by emailing Pernilla Jonsson ( or Kip Smythe (

The program features presentations by experienced business development experts and key industry leaders from Latin America. They will present the market profiles and business strategies to enter and/or further develop these markets. The session will provide an excellent opportunity to network with prospective customers and partners from these regions.

International Business Center

In addition to the “Latin America Day” program, the International Business Center, located in Room S102cd, is the epicenter for global networking at GRAPH EXPO 2011. The center is where the global delegations of printers from around the world congregate to plan their daily activities. It offers a comfortable environment to meet with potential international customers. Translation services are provided to assist NPES members, GRAPH EXPO exhibitors, and potential customers to facilitate business.

There also are representatives from the U.S. Department of Commerce and EXIM Bank to assist exhibitors with questions on tariffs, international finance, and other trade matters.

NPES is here to assist member companies succeed in the exciting, expanding global marketplace.
