DocuMaster and CardXtra, Working in Tandem

A digital print business in the U.K. took delivery of a Morgana (Booth 3439) DocuMaster bookletmaker and CardXtra trimmer/creaser to speed up and improve the quality finishing of output from its two HP Indigo 350 digital printing presses.

This digital printer had broken new ground by creating its own software to enable clients to access online templates and produce a wide range of work from the Indigo print engines via a Web interface.

With customers like this, the demand for small-format products such as business cards skyrocketed. As opposed to the 20 to 30 minutes of multiple cuts required to finish these on a standard guillotine, the digital print shop was able to use the appropriate program on the CardXtra to cut cards far more quickly and with complete accuracy.

Versatility is key

The Morgana DocuMaster came into its own in producing quality booklets from pre-collated sheets and providing a highly professional finish using its Square Back facility. The DocuMaster is a versatile piece of kit, allowing the print business to bypass the bookletmaking function so that it could be used for creasing greeting cards as well (something that could now be achieved on the new CardXtra Plus).

The Morgana CardXtra product is the ideal small-footprint trimming and creasing unit for any busy print shop or in-plant operation. While fast and accurate business card production has been the mainstay of the Morgana CardXtra product for some seven years, the new and enhanced CardXtra Plus solution extends the capabilities of the product to a wider range of jobs, including postcards, greetings cards, calendars, double- and multi-fold business cards, bookmarks, and even playing cards.

The newly released Morgana CardXtra Plus is capable of slitting, cutting, and creasing, and can be pre-programmed with up to 20 jobs. It can feed sheets up to 12x19" in size.
