Leadership Changes at Allegra
Allegra Network announced chairman Bill McIntyre’s retirement and a leadership transition to position the company for future growth and success. McIntyre has played an integral role in the growth of the Allegra Network franchise system for the past 24 years. With his decision to retire, he has been named chairman emeritus. Carl Gerhardt, former president and CEO of Allegra Network, has assumed the duties of chairman. With McIntyre and Gerhardt transitioning into new roles, Mike Marcantonio, former chief strategy officer, has been named CEO and president. Gerhardt’s long association with the industry began when he and his wife, Judy, owned and operated their own successful Allegra Network franchise for nearly 20 years. He came to Allegra Network as COO and president before assuming the role of CEO in 2007. Marcantonio joined Allegra Network in 2000 as an investor. In the role of chief strategy officer, he led the company’s plan to help its franchise members evolve into marketing services providers.

InterTech Winners Announced
Printing Industries of America has announced the recipients of the 2011 InterTech Technology Awards. The independent panel of judges deliberated over technology nominations ranging from plates and digital printing to a variety of production and management software. Eight innovative technologies were selected to receive the award. Listed alphabetically, they are: Enfocus Switch (Enfocus); KBA Flying JobChange (KBA North America); Komori H-UV Drying and Curing System (Komori America); manroland autoprint APL (manroland); Memjet Technologies (Memjet); PDF/VT (ISO 16612-2) (NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies, which coordinates US representation to the ISO technical committee on graphic technology); Studio Toolkit for Shrink Sleeves (EskoArtwork); TrueJet Digital Coated Papers (NewPage).

EFI Acquires Prism Group
EFI has acquired privately-held Prism Group Holdings. Prism, with headquarters in Australia, is a provider of MIS/ERP (management information systems and enterprise resource planning) software products for the printing and packaging industry, including Prism WIN MIS and Prism QTMS automated shop floor management and work in progress tracking software. Prism software will become part of EFI’s Software Applications (APPS) portfolio. EFI intends to integrate support and operations of Prism into the existing APPS organization, which will provide the EFI PrintSmith, EFI Pace, EFI Monarch, and EFI Radius software products while continuing to support the existing Prism client base.

xpedx Launches Recycling Program
A national recycling program has been launched by xpedx in association with its parent company, International Paper. This initiative is an element in xpedx’s overall sustainability strategy, where the business is committed to maintaining sustainable operations, offering sustainable product choices, and providing in sustainable business practices for its customers and suppliers. xpedx has established goals to recycle 2,400 tons of material in 2011 and reduce its waste by 10% annually over the next three years.
