UPDATE
Finch Paper, in collaboration with Printing Industries of America’s senior research analyst, Joe Marin, has created the Finch Digital Field Guide: Design Considerations for Digital Printing to promote understanding between designers and printers. Components include a basic breakout of current printing technology, including digital presses, with specific instructions and examples of designing for digital to produce optimal results. From actual, comparable samples of different printing techniques (i.e., offset lithography, dry toner, HP Indigo [liquid toner], and production inkjet), to spot color business card samples, to dozens of tips (again, with real samples), the Digital Field Guide is a resource for creatives and production professionals.
