Building on the success of last year’s co-located event at GRAPH EXPO, KBAug, the KBA Users Group, held its annual conference in McCormick Place on Saturday, the day prior to the GRAPH EXPO 2011's opening. “The ability to co-locate provides maximum value for our members,” says Tom Letto, a KBAug board member. “Our members are able to attend ING and GRAPH EXPO while attending the annual KBA Users Conference.”
The KBA Users Group, established in 2008, is open to KBA web press users in North America. The group holds an annual conference to provide user updates, operational experiences, new technology, and a forum to meet with KBA representatives, giving users the opportunity to network with other users, get acquainted with new products, and maintain relationships with KBA.
At this year’s meeting, scheduled speakers included KBA board members Mark Jeffrey, Vice President, from The Kansas City Star and Tom Letto, treasurer, from The Courier-Journal, along with Bruce Richardson, National Sales Manager Web Presses, KBA North America, and Tom Jones, National Service Manager, Bosch.
“The KBA annual event is an excellent session for sharing information and experiences to maximize the value of our equipment,” says Letto. “These meetings are ever so important as the industry evolves into more semi-commercial printing, with consolidations and greater expectations for efficient newspaper operations. The member-to-member discussions and KBA presentations from top executives provide valuable learning experiences.”
Eric Frank, VP of Marketing for KBA North America, notes “The KBA user group is an independent organization. The purpose of the group is to have interaction with KBA management on a variety of aspects, from product development and engineering to service issues. This key group of users helps fuel our organization’s direction, a direct result of the forthright and open communication that happens during these meetings.”
