Epicor Keeps it Lean

At Epicor’s exhibitor presentation on Monday, Scott Marienthal, Terrority Manager for Epicor for Printing and Packaging (Booth 5016), explained why the industry is in need of his company’s software. In a list comparing manufacturing industries, printing is in the 11th place of people it employs; in terms of value add per employee, it is in the number 53 slot.
Epicor aims to improve that number with Epicor for Printing and Packaging, its MIS program created specifically for the graphic communications industry and which draws on the company’s expertise in the MIS/ERP arena. Epicor was established in 1972 and has 33,000 installations in a variety of manufacturing industries; currently there are 400 in printing and packaging.
Marienthal, citing the need for “lean administration,” described how Epicor for Printing and Packaging gives organizations control over business via access to real-time data and automated workflow processes that can link customers, print systems, and services.
Based on Microsoft .NET Framework and a service-oriented architecture (SOA), Epicor for Printing and Packaging uses a Google-style search engine to allow easy access to information stored within the database. efficiently to sustain and grow their business.
