Delphax Technologies Demonstrates New elan 500 at Booth 2038

Delphax Technologies Inc. (Booth 2038) is a pioneer and global leader in the design, manufacture, and delivery of advanced digital print production systems based on high-performance innovations in electron-beam imaging and inkjet technologies. Its portfolio includes specialized full-color inkjet and monochrome toner presses ideal for a wide spectrum of applications and substrates in both roll-fed and sheet-fed printing environments.

The new elan 500 is a digital color print system which combines major advances in inkjet and paper-handling technologies. elan 500 is a robust production class sheet-fed print system offering full-color and 1600 dpi print quality at speeds of up to 500 impressions per minute.

The system is powered by Memjet Waterfall Printhead Technology, which produces high-speed color printing at comparatively low costs and imaging resolution that is more exacting than the human eye. The Memjet print head features 8.77" (222.8mm) printable width, prints without moving back and forth across the sheet and requires minimal warm-up time. The waterfall inkjet technology lays down ink at 6" (152mm) per second, or 12" (305mm) per second at 1600 dpi color graphics by delivering up to 700 million drops of ink per second with 70,400 nozzles on each print head.

Delphax engineers have integrated multiple Memjet print heads with the unique Delphax-designed paper path, utilizing the company’s patented SST transport technology to create an unprecedented combination of speed, versatility, affordability, and high quality for color sheet-fed and on demand inkjet production.

The elan digital front end (DFE) uses Adobe PDF workflow for both publishing and variable applications, driven by Delphax’s unique scalable RIP architecture. The elan DFE allows simple and cost-effective integration into any workflow solution without binding the customer to proprietary systems or requiring separate software solutions for each application type. An intuitive touchscreen interface simplifies the operator experience, keeping input options clear and uncomplicated. Comprehensive reporting systems provide detailed metrics and permit real-time analysis of system performance.

Maximum sheet size is 18x25.2" (SRA2, 450x640mm); minimum sheet size is 8x8" (203.2x203.2mm). The system prints on a wide range of substrates, from 60 to 350 gsm. Patent-pending in-line primer capability is an option for enhancing substrate compatibility. The system also offers up to two spot colors.

elan is ideal for commercial print on demand challenges in direct mail, transpromotional, billing, statements, and book or manual publishing. Industry certified Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) is offered for security printing.
