Dalim Software (Booth 229) is highlighting the latest release of its online production management, ES (Enterprise Solution). Visitors can see firsthand ES 3’s business and production management tools, including a redesigned user interface, making it easier to access, manage, control, organize, and sort projects and files.
The ultimate user interface
New ES features include:
• Smart Folders can be dynamically created, depending on metadata matching certain criteria.
• A check in/check out tool takes the worry out of managing multiple versions.
• Project Data Management creates subdirectories that organize project content—such as text and pictures—into meaningful, descriptive folders.
• With its API, ES 3 integrates with any existing third party MIS, ERP, or DAM system.
• Sometimes documents need to be shared with people who are not necessarily part of the supply chain. With the ‘Share’ feature, the operator clicks a button, and ES generates a URL and email message.
The VIRTUAL LIBRARY (DVL) is a page-turning application that provides real-time access to job progress for soft proofing and approvals. It offers a realistic look and feel of a publication—even simulating different paper characteristics.
The latest version offers a browser-based edition, eliminating the need to deploy a local client application. It is based on HTML5, ensuring that browser-based flip books will operate on mobile devices and desktop systems without plug-ins.
Along with ES ‘Share’, DVL files can be shared with others. Partners can email them for download, but they can also publish HTML code to embed the DVL on any website. Thus, printers have a tool to produce interactive online catalogs or magazines within minutes. While some prepress houses already provide this service, they are either Flash based, or the programming is very time consuming and costly.
The Enrichment option lets people turn static, print-ready PDF files into interactive digital magazines, newspapers, brochures, and catalogs—even adding movies and slide shows—on the iPad. Thus, the content provider can offer a much more dynamic reader experience than just the pure conversion of a magazine ported to an iPad.
There are also updates to TWIST and DIALOGUE Engine.
TWIST is as much as four times faster. A new feature allows users to automatically compare versions of a document with the control to stop the workflow process if a problem or difference is found. Version 6.4 also features a new normalization method to optimize PDF files, originally intended for print, for use on mobile devices, eliminating artifacts and small white lines.
The DIALOGUE Engine supports the Just Normlicht viewing booth, for better control when soft proofing during a press check. When the user opens a file in DIALOGUE Engine, the system will control the brightness of the viewing cabinet and match the image on the monitor with the one on the cabinet.
“At GRAPH EXPO, Dalim Software focuses on two important graphic production elements,” says Dr. Carol Werlé, Dalim Software CEO. “We have introduced business processes to complement the technical production process. Approval, reviews, partner collaboration, and other relationships can help automatically drive production. Also, we are offering easy ways to complement print expertise with Web-based communication tools, like DVL, helping to evolve our customers’ businesses.”
