InPlant printers kept their new GRAPH EXPO show floor pavilion, The InPlant Place, humming on day one. The pavilion (Booth 3461) offered an “oasis” for InPlant professionals from university, corporate, and government operations to rest-up, network with their peers, and talk about what they had seen on the show floor or had learned in InPlant educational sessions. By all accounts this new GRAPH EXPO show floor feature was a hit from the start.
The InPlant Place came about as a partnership between GRAPH EXPO and the In-Plant Printing & Mailing Association (IPMA), which is the official pavilion sponsor. Other organizations, which also worked on the InPlant-specific aspects of GRAPH EXPO, included the Association of College & University Printers (ACUP), In-Plant Graphics magazine, the Print Media Centr, Xplor, and Rochester Software Associates (RSA). The main objective of The InPlant Place was to address the top three InPlant priorities—Print More, Print Faster, Save Money.
These partners identified the key areas for InPlant professionals at GRAPH EXPO as providing:
• A venue to view, understand, and compare the hottest new technologies.
• A structure for networking between InPlants, including university, corporate, and government printing operations.
• A specifically tailored educational track addressing the unique needs of InPlants.
• A program that examines best practices.
In addressing those areas at The InPlant Place, IPMA offers association guidance and support and official IPMA Certification Training, along with information on all InPlant exclusive programs and events at GRAPH EXPO. As a retreat for InPlant attendees to relax, re-energize, and review their show experiences, The InPlant Place offers daily mid-morning coffee breaks and two evening receptions.
Also, throughout GRAPH EXPO, InPlant professionals have the opportunity to branch out from the InPlant oasis and explore the show floor to check out all of the diverse technologies involved in their industry segment such as: prepress, press, finishing, mailing and fulfillment, transactional printing, packaging, and wide-format.
This convenient one-stop shopping opportunity for offset, digital, and hybrid technologies includes the first North American introductions of many products premiered at drupa earlier this year.
Today’s day two educational opportunities for InPlant professionals include: an 8:30 am seminar “Growth Strategies for Quick/Small Commercial Printers & Corporate/Educational/InPlant Print Centers” and a 10:30 am panel discussion “Empowered InPlants: Tell-All Success Stories From the Field”. That will be followed by a 2:00 pm session “InPlant Ingenuity: Building Your Company Inside Another”.
Along with these seminar sessions, today will also feature a free special noon luncheon presentation for InPlant Printers, “Connecting Customers with Print”. Sponsored by IPMA and In-Plant Graphics, the free presentation will be moderated by InfoTrends Barb Pellow and feature a panel of top industry suppliers and InPlant managers. Topics will include building business with Web-to-print, connecting with customers using QR codes, and reaching customers through the printed piece.
