With a steady flow of InPlant attendees, The InPlant Place proved a major attraction at GRAPH EXPO 2012. Couple that with a solid educational seminar slate, a free luncheon presentation, and the vast and varied show floor offerings of special interest to InPlant professionals, the robust InPlant focus at GRAPH EXPO more than proved its worth.
“It isn’t widely known, but some studies have found that the number of InPlants is greater than the number of commercial printing establishments,” said GASC President Ralph Nappi. “With that in mind, we worked with a variety of organizations to develop not only a specific show floor area, The InPlant Place, but also to increase the number of targeted educational opportunities. In addition, the GRAPH EXPO show floor presented InPlant professionals in the education, government, and corporate worlds with the opportunity to see the latest hardware, software, and services available.”
Throughout GRAPH EXPO, InPlant professionals enjoyed one-stop shopping for offset, digital, and hybrid technologies. Along with the latest offerings in prepress software and workflow systems and more than 105 new equipment introductions in press, finishing, package printing, and photo imaging, InPlant attendees were able to see more wide-format offerings than at any other expo in the Americas in 2012. The show floor also featured demonstrations of a wide range of transactional, packaging, and mailing and fulfillment equipment and software.
The increased emphasis on InPlant operations at GRAPH EXPO 2012 was implemented with the input and support from the In-Plant Printing & Mailing Association (IPMA), the Association of College & University Printers (ACUP), In-Plant Graphics magazine, the Print Media Centr, Xplor, Rochester Software Associates (RSA), and other organizations and individuals to craft a comprehensive program to address the top three InPlant priorities—Print More, Print Faster, Save Money.
These partners identified the key areas for InPlant professionals at GRAPH EXPO 2012 as providing: a venue to view, understand, and compare the hottest new technologies; a structure for networking between In-Plants, including university, corporate, and government printing operations; a specifically tailored educational track addressing the unique needs of InPlants; and a program that examines best practices.
Along with the show floor opportunities, InPlant professionals also had a slate of seminars including: “Re-Branding Wizardry for the CRD and InPlant Print Centers”, “Growth Strategies for Quick/Small Commercial Printers & Corporate/Educational/InPlant Print Centers”, “Empowered InPlants: Tell-All Success Stories From the Field”, “InPlant Ingenuity: Building Your Company Inside Another”, and “InPlant Biz Development101: How to Build Variable and Multi Channel Offerings”. There was also a free luncheon panel session, “Connecting Customers With Print”.
“From what I have heard from attendees and our InPlant partners, GRAPH EXPO 2012 has indeed met the key needs that were outlined prior to the show,” said Nappi. “Not only do I think that InPlant attendees were served, but I also think that vendors across the show floor appreciated being able to interact with representatives of an industry segment with such vast purchasing power.”
