The final day of GRAPH EXPO 2012 offers attendees a last chance to get an up close and personal look at the latest in prepress and premedia technologies on display across the show floor. Of particular interest to prepress professionals are the winners of the year’s MUST SEE ’EMS competition for the best new product introduction in the prepress and premedia category. This year’s selections include EFI’s Fiery SeeQuence JobMaster (Booth 2000), Esko Suite 12 (Booth 427), and Ricoh’s Clickable Paper (Booth 2600), a new cross-media service enabling consumers to point an iPhone or Android smartphone at any printed surface and be automatically linked to any kind of online media.
Prepress professionals have also had a great educational opportunity during this year’s GRAPH EXPO with sessions and workshops specifically aimed at this aspect of the graphic communications industry.
Among the highlights were the Mac Labs which kicked off Saturday prior to the show opening with a three-hour session on PDF file preparation for success in color printing. Sunday saw sessions on color matching for online and offline media, a publishers guide to e-book production, a Mac Lab session on mastering Adobe Creative Suite CS6, and a special packaging-oriented session “Hi-Performance Packaging: Seize the Opportunities—Short-run Color, VDP, RFID, and More”.
Monday offered another Mac Lab on Photoshop for prepress and printing, along with a session on digital press color management. Tuesday featured the Mac Lab “But Will it Print? Creating the Perfect File Using InDesign”. There were also three workshops on direct mail design, format optimization, and tracking, and measurement.
