Joachim has played an integral role in the adoption of production digital printing for over 20 years. He has held senior executive positions at Xerox, Oce, and most recently Ricoh, where he was a member of the core senior team that developed Ricoh’s entry into the production printing market. He brings to Caslon deep experience in business strategy, sales and marketing, and recent first hand experience consulting for leading packaging companies in the US and Europe. He also serves on the advisory board for California Polytechnic State University’s (Cal Poly) Graphic Communication Department, one of the top graphic arts and packaging programs in the world.
The packaging industry is on the cusp of innovation driven by emerging technologies.
• Brand owners and retailers see the opportunity for packaging to target new markets
• Converters must adapt to a growing number of SKUs and shorter runs
• Equipment manufacturers are focused on opportunities for digital print and new interactive packaging solutions
Rab Govil, president of Caslon, says, “Our customers have been clear on their desire for us to expand our focus into packaging. With Carl joining our team we have added someone with deep industry experience and a proven track record of connecting markets with new technologies. Carl will add depth to every aspect of our business to the benefit Caslon clients.”
Adds Joachim: “To further enable thought leadership for Caslon customers, we have established a partnership with Cal Poly’s Packaging and Graphic Communication programs. I have long been associated with Cal Poly, and they are one of the world’s leading institutions in both disciplines, known for academic excellence and industry leadership.”
Caslon and Cal Poly will conduct a panel discussion at GRAPH EXPO 2012 on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm, entitled: “Digital Printing Opportunities in Packaging—A 360-Degree View: Brand Owners, Converters, and Technology Providers” in Room S102.
