FUJIFILM North America Corporation’s Graphic Systems Division is exhibiting a full portfolio of solutions at GRAPH EXPO, including products that highlight its presence as a complete systems manufacturer.
Fujifilm (Booth 414) is featuring its latest inkjet printing technologies including the J Press 720 production press, and the Inca Onset S40i, Acuity HS and Acuity LED 1600 large-format solutions. Also on display at the booth is the Fuji XMF Workflow, which offers new features for print service providers (PSPs), the Xerox Color 1000 Press with clear ink, solutions from Fuji’s industry-leading line of offset printing plates.
“Innovation is the number one priority at Fujifilm and we are tirelessly dedicated to R&D efforts,” said Todd Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager of Fuji’s Graphic Systems Division. “GRAPH EXPO will showcase the impressive developments we have made in order to better serve commercial printers, enabling them to evolve their businesses and remain competitive and ultimately succeed in a shifting landscape.”
One of inkjet’s largest advantages for the industry is its ability to create entirely new applications. According to Fujifilm officials, the company’s J Press 720 establishes an entirely new product category: the high-quality, sheet-fed inkjet press. The half-size format press, which prints 2,700 four-up sheets per hour, is suitable for print runs of just one or thousands, according to Fuji officials. They also note that the J Press provides a superior solution for the fastest-growing segment of the market where the majority of print jobs reside – and where new opportunities will be in the future.
The 720 model, which earned a 2012 InterTech Technology Award, has two new features, including a continuous printing job mode that allows users to create a job queue, and a verification system to ensure front-to-back matching for variable-data jobs. To date, according to Zimmerman, Fuji has sold 11 J Presses worldwide, three of them in the U.S. A fourth U.S. installation is going to be completed soon.
Making its debut at GRAPH EXPO, the Inca Onset S40i meets the high-volume, fast-turnaround production needs of large format, graphic display printers. This flatbed UV inkjet printer has many new intelligent features that increase productivity and reliability including a zoned bed to reduce masking, innovative UV sensor system to initiate automatic cleaning, and a sophisticated substrate height detector to help safeguard print heads. It is ideal for the production of single and double-sided display POS, exhibition graphics, backlit/frontlit displays, outdoor signage printing, and cosmetic/fashion graphics on a wide range of materials.
Fuji’s XMF Workflow, a prepress production workflow built around PDF and JDF technologies, has expanded to become a more-robust solution expanding further beyond computer-to-plate operations to pre-flighting, color-management, imposition, and screening for a variety of output devices including platesetters, digital presses, and the J Press 720.
XMF features include Metrix, a layout creation solution; a Fujifilm edition of ColorGATE’s Production Server and XMF ColorPath, a Web-based solution that synchronizes to color industry standards across many print processes.
