Three months into the New Year and it’s time for our first event (of many) in 2014 - our flagship thought leadership event - the FESPA Global Summit 2014, which will take place from March 6-7 in Munich, Germany.
The outstanding success of last year’s edition, which welcomed 130 delegates to the heart of London, set us in good stead for this year’s event.
Traveling to Munich ahead of FESPA Digital 2014 will provide delegates and speakers with a taster of what the Bavarian capital has to offer the exhibition in May. This is the first time Munich plays host to the Global Summit, having previously traveled to Miami, Singapore, Barcelona, and London.
Our Global Summit was introduced into our event portfolio in 2010 to create an event where printers could come together to address the key topics, challenges, opportunities and threats that are shaping the wide-format print sector. The importance of an event like the Global Summit where industry peers can discuss these matters was illustrated by the glowing feedback from attendees at the 2013 event.
This year’s two day event will comprise seminars, interactive workshops, panel discussions and quality networking opportunities to inspire printers about how to grow and enhance their businesses.
The Global Summit is part of FESPA’s unique Profit for Purpose reinvestment program which uses the revenues from our exhibitions to support the global print community. It’s an opportunity for us to share best practice and provide members with the skills and confidence to develop their service offering and communicate the value of print to customers.
We have confirmed high caliber speakers at this year’s Global Summit including brand owners, creatives, designers, and suppliers, all with the aim of articulating the creative potential of wide format print. To provide a truly global event we have confirmed speakers from countries worldwide including: Australia, Belgium, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA. The seminars will examine a range of topics such as: market opportunities for existing and new markets including 3D printing, printed electronics, printing for interiors, in-store, exclusive market research, sustainability, and business skills including efficiency and leadership, as well as case studies presented by leading print companies and buyers from all over the world.
The FESPA Global Summit is an opportunity for delegates to speak with other printers, brand owners and creatives in an intimate environment about the true issues that are affecting them day to day, and the themes and topics debated will influence educational features for future events.
When print service providers are researching and gathering information to support business decisions and growth, I firmly believe there’s no substitute for obtaining this first hand and speaking with others. Face-to-face contact and peer-to-peer networking will always remain important, especially where big decisions are to be made. This is why an event such as the Global Summit is key for printers.
Our theme for FESPA Digital 2014 this year is ‘Dive Deeper into Digital Print’, motivating printers who have already embraced the early benefits of digital print to think about how to enhance this and create new opportunities. The Summit will present new and creative ideas to printers about how they can get the most from the technology available, as well as introducing them to the people that can help make it happen.
Results from our 2013 World Wide Survey show that 49 percent of printers are looking to integrate print more closely with other media and 42 percent cite demand for cross media devices to connect print with online media. These findings from the survey underline the importance for printers to understand how print relates to other channels and to work with clients to provide something extraordinary. The Global Summit is the perfect opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry.
The FESPA Global Summit 2014 will set the stage for FESPA Digital 2014, which is making significant strides as an event. In January 2014 we increased the show floor plan by 4,000 sqm, branching out into an additional hall. This makes FESPA Digital 2014 the biggest European Digital event yet.
We also have our first FESPA Africa event taking place in Johannesburg in July, our second FESPA Eurasia and China events taking place in October and November respectively and our annual FESPA Mexico exhibition will return to Mexico City in August.
In 2013 over 60,000 printers attended FESPA events from over 150 countries worldwide. Engagement via FESPA’s website also grew in 2013, with over 185,000 people connecting with FESPA online. With the addition of our Africa and China shows, FESPA events now span four continents cementing FESPA’s reputation as a truly global organisation, and making the role of our Global Summit ever more central in driving our community’s growth.
