Industry Trends Video Extravaganza

I have to admit, it's been a whirlwind since my last post. Between various trade shows, a really quick vacation, pre Graph Expo Show Daily planning, regular monthly issues, a little side project about the history of the wide-format industry (check out LinkedIn for more on that) and the launch of the MyPrintResource portal website, I can't say that I've had a moment to sit and simply breathe. But, at the recent 2011 ISA Sign Expo, I had the opportunity—and the complete pleasure—to sit down with 12 industry leaders to talk about some of the critical issues facing the wide-format industry in the beginning of 2011. Some of these folks I'd only had the opportunity to talk with via email or over the phone, so it was a pleasure to meet them all face-to-face—some for the first time—and to reacquaint myself with others I've known for years. The economy still tops the list of critical issues—and it's no surprise. Uncertainty in the economy makes it difficult to make long-range business plans, but the industry leaders continue to do so—adjusting as various situations change. Sustainability was also a major point that I covered and many touched on the difficulties of sourcing green or sustainable products, how to verify that the products are actually sustainable, and even if customers are willing—and ready—to pay to be green. It's a hard topic. On some sides, you do have some of the major brands requesting green products, but are they paying the higher prices these products call for? I honestly don't know. Then there are a slew of products on the market, but are they really green? What questions do PSPs need to ask their vendors to make sure—and do the vendors know? Make sure you check out all of the videos up on MyPrintResource—and check out the site. Let us know what you think! PS: Also, if you didn't get the chance to attend ISA 2011 Sign Expo, make sure you take a look at the Post-Show Wrap-Up eBook!
