For the past several years, I've had the pleasure of being at the helm of the GRAPH EXPO and PRINT 13 Show Dailies, which in many ways gives me a very unique perspective on one of the more dynamic and engaging trade shows in the graphic communications industry.
Every year in the middle of summer, I have my eyes focused on a date in the early fall where thousands of poeple converge on McCormick Place in Chicago to talk print. Reaching out to exhibitors, I work with them to ensure that the new product releases and show highlights are captured in the Daily that arrives early in the morning at the doors of attendees and exhibitors alike (a pretty terrific benefit of staying within the designated room block, of course) in hotels accross Chicago.
This year was just as dynamic as other years and exhibitors were selling equipment right from the show floor. "The buyers were all here," one exhibitor told me on Wednesday afternoon. "All the big guys were here and they were seriously looking."
Others told me even earlier on that this show was the first time they sold equipment off the show floor. With a normal sales cycle that is usually much longer, it was a pleasant surprise to have equipment nearly "jumping off" the show floor and into attendees hands.

But the real stars of the Show Daily for me personally is the entire team who is working hard to make sure that everyone has the latest news at their door each and every morning. From the reporters, photographers, social media experts, and videographers who are on the "front lines" to those behind the scenes—the designers, prepress techs, production coordinators, delivery guys, sales representives, pressmen at CGX, and the entire digital team—they each play an essential part in making this entire project a success.
