PrintCom is a media-focused consultancy with a printing industry heritage. As media have fragmented and initially become competitive with print and more recently integrated with print products, PrintCom has broadened its offerings to include a wide range of media. Currently, 40% to 50% of the Group’s work comes from printing industry equipment and consumable suppliers and the balance from printers, research organizations and associations, financial/investment interests, and print-competitive and print-integrated e-media as well as a range of related media products and interests.
PrintCom is able to provide a wide range of services because of its unique organizational structure which in addition to a core research staff in its Charlotte, NC, area offices, includes 15 North American senior level associates. PrintCom also maintains working relations with several print and graphic organizations.
The PrintCom organization conducts in-depth Benchmark Audits for producing printers in all segments of the industry. A full PrintCom Benchmark Audit encompasses a total review of a company’s operations including administration, marketing, sales, and printing production from the creation of content through all phases of manufacturing including mailing and distribution. The results of the PrintCom Benchmark Audits are used to develop quality and productivity improvement programs as well as to provide data for the strength and weakness analysis aspect of business planning programs.
The development of business, strategic and product plans constitutes a major portion of PrintCom’s activity. This work often involves the technical/economic evaluation of marketing, printing processes and technology trends. Planning activities, which are conducted for printers and publishers as well as suppliers, include the development of short term as well as long term strategic planning with detailed tactical action plans and follow-up implementation support
Business development projects conducted for both printers and suppliers have included the identification and evaluation of new market opportunities, new product evaluations, diversification studies, distribution channel analysis, acquisitions and divestitures. PrintCom has organized or participated in the due diligence analysis associated with acquisitions and divestitures.
Through the combination of senior level contract consulting associates and full time staff personnel under the direction of Mr. Lamparter, PrintCom offers the printing, publishing and related equipment and supply industries a management, business and technical consulting and research resource second to none. Group expertise spans the full range of processes, functions and most market segments.
