Océ announced that digital print industry veteran and Océ executive Francis McMahon and Jim Robinson, vice president of operations and administration at Harlequin Enterprises, an Océ customer, will participate in industry panels at the Interquest 2011 Digital Book Printing Forum. Océ is also a sponsor of the sixth annual event being held on April 5 at the New York Marriot Marquis.
Interquest hosts this special seminar devoted to digital book production during the Publishing Business Conference & Expo, produced by Book Business magazine. Interquest is a leading market and technology research and consulting firm serving the digital printing and publishing industry. Interquest analysts will present key results from the company's latest research in the field.
Robinson appears as a member of the Book Printers Progress Report Panel. McMahon will participate on the Leading Vendors Executive Panel.
"In just a few years, digital book manufacturing has totally changed the face of publishing economics. Today, many top digital book manufacturers rely on Océ digital print solutions as part of their publishing platform. These publishers recognize that digital has a key role in the future of the books, and the ROI just can't be ignored. Book manufacturers such as Harlequin Enterprises have successfully adopted the digital model with Océ as part of their strategies. I look forward to networking with book publishers and talking about how they can build and refine their own digital models," said McMahon.
The Forum provides executives in the book publishing market with the practical information on strategies, tactics and technologies. Attendees include service providers such as:
"The target audience for this forum coincides with the types of customers and partners who benefit most from the broad line of Océ solutions for digital book publishing. As a sponsor, Océ is committed to helping customers in this space achieve their business goals with efficiency and quality," said McMahon.
Jim Robinson joins peers from Frederic Printing, Hamilton Books and Webcom on the "Book Printers Progress Report Panel". These leading book printers will present their experiences, applications and challenges with digital printing. They also explain how the latest digital print technology developments—both monochrome and color—enhance their solutions and expand their applications.
"Interquest seminars bring together important information through surveys and a broad range of speakers to stimulate strategic thinking on how to approach challenges in our business," said Robinson. "I look forward to sharing our results with the Océ digital book publishing solution."
Robinson joined Harlequin Enterprises in 1996 as vice president of operations and administration. He is responsible for purchasing, copy editing, typesetting, assembly, paper procurement, print contracts and the distribution of 150 million books annually in North America and the effective manufacturing of an equal volume spread between 12 Harlequin Publishers around the world.
In the afternoon, Francis McMahon joins a group of print vendor executives for an update on strategy, developments, and recent success stories in the book market. They will also discuss topics and issues key to the growth of digital printing.
As vice president of marketing for the Océ North America Production Printing Systems division, McMahon leverages more than 20 years of printing industry experience. He is a member of the National Association of Printing Leadership Board, the NYU Graphic Communications Management and Technology M.A. Program Advisory Board and the Electronic Document Systems Foundation. In 2007, he was inducted into the Soderstrom Society.
