Frank E. Schochet passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at the age of 96, in St. Louis Park, MN. Schochet founded the Insty-Prints franchise in the mid-1960s, and is considered to be one of the pioneers of the early quick printing industry. Insty-Prints was acquired by the Allegra Network in 2002. It had 194 locations in the U.S. and Poland at that time.
Carl Gerhardt, president and CEO of Allegra Network, said: “Frank was one of the most interesting men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. He was a true gentleman. Still able to travel on his own just a few years ago, he accompanied me to Shreveport to attend the 25th anniversary of Gene and Jim Elliott’s Insty-Prints. It was fascinating to hear him tell the story of the franchise’s founding. He told me he interviewed every person that applied for an Insty-Prints franchise when he owned it. He brought many great people into the system ... many of whom are our leading franchise members today. One of the true pioneers of the industry, he leaves a great legacy not only to our industry but also to his family and everyone he touched during his life.”
