Presstek, Inc., a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, today announced that Quad/Graphics, one of the world’s largest commercial printers, will be purchasing a five-color Presstek 75DI digital offset press with an inline aqueous coater.
“We are extremely pleased, once again, that Quad/Graphics has chosen Presstek DI technology to be part of its production platform,” said Jeff Jacobson, Presstek’s Chairman, President and CEO. “In the fall of 2009 Quad/Graphics installed a Presstek 52DI-AC press, and now they are adding the larger 29” format Presstek 75DI. Quad/Graphics is clearly an industry leader in both innovation and its adoption of the most appropriate technologies to meet its customers’ requirements. Its selection of DI technology validates Presstek’s belief that DI printing adds value for printers of all sizes.”
“Quad/Graphics is well aware that there is strong market demand for high quality short run fast turnaround color printing,” said Joe Demharter, Presstek’s Vice President of Sales. “In today’s market, it is necessary to keep production capabilities current so that customer requirements, including the growing requirement for short run work, can be profitably met. I believe the Presstek 75DI will be a winning solution for Quad/Graphics and I am proud to be working with a company that is so well-respected in the industry.”
The Presstek 75DI is a highly automated 29” digital offset press that is available in 4- to 10-color configurations. It is available with a full range of productivity enhancing options, including an inline aqueous coater. The 75DI features support for 300 lpi and FM screening, 6-minute job-to-job turnover (including on-press plate imaging), and a small environmental footprint. The press prints up to 16,000 six-up sheets or 96,000 letter-sized pages per hour.
Demharter adds, “The 75DI and all Presstek DI presses complement existing offset and digital presses. They enhance a printer’s ability to be a full service provider and enables them to profitably offer a wider range of products and services to their customers.”
