GPO Produces Global Entry Cards for Faster Airport Travel
The GPO is now producing Global Entry cards for the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection.
In its continuing transition to new lines of business, the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) is now producing Global Entry cards for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Customs and Border Protection (CBP), serving pre-approved international air travelers when they return to the United States. Global Entry cardholders present the cards at automated kiosks to enjoy expedited processing through customs. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) recently announced that they are working with CBP on a pilot program that will utilize identity-based, pre-flight screening capabilities, and provide trusted travelers with expedited screening. Certain members of CBP's Trusted Traveler Program (TTP), U.S. citizens who have a Global Entry, SENTRI, or NEXUS cards, will be eligible to participate in this pilot and qualify them for expedited screening at select checkpoints at certain airports.
The Global Entry card is part of the TTP; GPO has been producing NEXUS, SENTRI, and FAST cards for the CBP since 2008. Like other TTP cards, GPO is responsible for designing, printing, personalizing, and mailing the cards. GPO produces the cards at the agency's ISO 9001 certified secure production facility in Washington, D.C.
"GPO is proud to be producing the Global Entry card for CBP. It is the fourth TTP card entrusted to us by DHS," said Public Printer Bill Boarman. "Global Entry card innovations, which combine security printing and secure electronics, exemplify the future of secure Federal credentials. With each secure card success, GPO contributes more to the mission of our DHS customer and to the security programs of our country."
