Twixl Publisher Lets Users Create iPad Apps

Twixl media, an innovative player in the digital publishing market, has made it simple for designers to produce iPad apps quickly, easily and cost effectively. The company’s core solution, Twixl Publisher, is the first application that enables users to produce iPad applications independently – from design to publishing in the Apple App Store.

Twixl media will participate at various conferences this fall to demonstrate to an international audience how Twixl Publisher meets designers' needs beyond the traditional e-publishing model.

Independent and intuitive

Twixl Publisher is a publishing solution that takes projects from InDesign to iPad. It is a combination of a stand-alone (Mac OS X) application and a plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS5, and converts and exports traditional documents into interactive reader applications for the iPad.

Twixl Publisher translates print designs into digital designs by integrating interactive content – photo slide shows, audio, video and more – into a seamless iPad blend.

"Twixl Publisher is based on our philosophy of simplicity and intuition," says Luk Dhondt, Product Manager at Twixl media. "The most common feedback we get in our workshops is, 'is it that easy?' And the answer is yes. It’s based on a three-step model, ‘design, build and publish' – the fastest and easiest way to an enticing, interactive experience for the reader."

All-in-one publishing solution

Beyond publishers and marketers, Twixl Publisher is also ideal for designers and design agencies who need an all-in-one solution to publish on the iPad. "Designers are creative and independent people who won’t be happy with a model where they have to pay an extra fee for each publication," says Dhondt.

With Apple announcing sales of 9 million iPads in the last quarter, the demand for iPad applications has outgrown the world of traditional publishing. Today, new markets for new applications are emerging for designers and agencies: annual reports, product sheets, brochures and manuals etc. Brands want them on the iPad, making Twixl Publisher the perfect fit.

Pioneering with Twixl Publisher

Internationally renowned graphic designer and artist, Fiodor Sumkin, is someone who wanted to benefit from the enhanced reader experience afforded by the iPad. “After the iPad was introduced in early 2010, I started looking for a solution to help me realize my first concept of an iPad app. After exploring the options it was clear that Twixl Publisher was the pioneering publishing solution I needed. It has proved to be the best match for me and my customers. Being a stand-alone application, you don’t have to pay extra, it has simple navigation and isn’t expensive.”

Sumkin has already realized several iPad apps using Twixl Publisher, including Avenue Montaigne Guide and Mag DC, and has more in store. He is very satisfied with the possibilities Twixl Publisher offers: “The e-publishing market is about far more than just converting books, magazines and newspapers,” he continues. “With digital publishing solutions, companies can reach an unlimited readership much faster and cheaper.

“Digital publishing has created an additional communication channel that should be seen as an integral part of any marketing strategy. And it’s is up to designers to make the concept rock!”
