Goss to Emphasize Recent North American Web Offset Activity and Expanded Product Range at GRAPH EXPO

Goss International will use this year’s GRAPH EXPO show to highlight recent web press projects in North America, where commercial printers selecting Goss presses to replace older technology or enter new markets have given the company a near-unanimous market position through 2010 and 2011.

The Goss booth will present unique options for commercial and newspaper printing, print finishing and aftermarket support as well as the new Sunday Vpak packaging presses and an expanded portfolio of Ferag, Akiyama, Purlux and Yawa products.

“The benefit of Graph Expo is the chance to step away from immediate, day-to-day challenges and to explore new possibilities and new opportunities,” comments Graham Trevett, vice president of sales for Goss International.

Large and small printers in North America have chosen Goss Sunday web presses recently for commercial and publication printing as well as a growing array of specialized applications including direct mail, retail inserts and playing cards. The list includes sheetfed printers adding web capacity to differentiate and offer their customers a more complete one-stop-shop.

Goss also remains active in the newspaper sector, with a full portfolio of press systems, unique finishing options utilizing Goss and Ferag components, and specialized experience in supporting hybrid and contract printing operations.

Trevett says lower waste, faster makereadies, and more overall output and uptime are common factors driving investments in web presses, finishing systems and enhancements. Environmental advantages including lower paper and energy consumption and reduced emissions extend the competitive advantages of newer presses. “We look forward to discussing why Omnicon automation packages, on-the-fly Automatic Transfer job changes, DigiRail digital inking and many other advanced Goss features make it very sensible to consider a new press to replace older, less efficient capacity,” Trevett explains.

In the direct mail sector, Sunday 2000 presses are increasingly being utilized with new or existing in-line finishing systems to produce high-quality targeted products at lower costs. New Sunday 2000 direct mail presses have been recently installed at Japs-Olson, Vertis, Quad/Graphics and other U.S. sites. Several feature Automatic Transfer technology, allowing on-the-fly version or job changes without stopping the press, and ‘digital hybrid’ configurations with integrated digital printing.

Additional highlights of the Goss International booth at Graph Expo will include the new Sunday Vpak variable sleeve packaging presses. Vpak presses are available in web widths up to 75 inches and represent a new web offset alternative to sheetfed, gravure and flexo presses for folding carton, film and label applications.

The Goss Lifetime Support team will also present parts, service and enhancement programs designed to extend the competitive lifespan of press and finishing systems. Goss International will again offer a Graph Expo parts discount promotion to emphasize the advantages and competitiveness of its large-scale OEM parts operation.

Trevett says the extensive Goss presence at Graph Expo will reflect confidence in and support for the industry and an enthusiasm for collaborating with printers. “The show brings printers and suppliers together in a unique environment that is conducive to collaborating, discussing challenges and generating ideas,” he adds.
