ILF Technologies, a world-leading supplier of web finishing solutions for the printing and converting industries, will showcase the ILF M3 “Cutting Edge” Rotary Cutter and FDC 1 Portable Flex Die Cutter in booth #4041 at Graph Expo 2011, September 11-14 in Chicago.
The M3 Rotary Cutter is designed for short make-readies and maximum uptime. It features a new anvil pin cylinder that has a push-through pin system with positive bottom seating. This new design prevents the pins from sinking when the rotary cutter is in operation.
The M3 Rotary Cutter also includes soft-cut die rule blocks and soft-cut heavy blade blocks. The soft-cut knife system produces a quality cut at an economical price. Contour cutting is available as well. Existing ILF soft-cut blocks will work in the M3 model.
In addition, the M3 offers faster, more accurate knife positioning. The knife locating bar results in shorter make-readies and keeps the knife in the proper position when locating the knife block to the cylinder.
Other advantages include a new stripper finger system for stripping away the non-print gap. The stripper finger system employs a tool-less system to set a locating bar. The locating bar lines up stripping pins quickly and effortlessly.
The Siemens SIMOTION integrated drive platform ensures extreme reliability and accuracy. The M3 model comes standard with the Siemens SIMOTION drive and controls.
At Graph Expo, the M3 Rotary Cutter will be quipped with the XTC Delivery Table. The XTC delivers a great return on investment through increased speed, fewer jams and easier operation. It is particularly effective at handling lighter basis weight papers and coated covers. The new mechanical design in conjunction with the latest servo technology reduces make-ready time and start-up waste. The independent drive of the delivery from the cutter enables a variety of on-the-run adjustments that were not available with mechanically driven systems.
The FDC 1 Portable Flex Die Cutter is a servo-driven portable unit for die cutting the web/ribbon in the finishing line. The unit on display in the ILF booth will feature a 20-inch cylinder width with portable carriage.
The FDC 1 can be quickly positioned in different locations, depending upon the finishing requirements. The FDC 1 performs precise window cuts, contour cutting, cross-perforation and other applications thanks to hard die rule plates positioned on the honeycomb plate cylinder.
The Siemens SIMOTION servo drive provides quick plug-in and plug-out relocation. Once positioned in the line, the FDC 1 can be moved laterally across the web according to the width of the ribbon.
Joining ILF in booth #4041 will be representatives of Paper Benders Supply, Inc., a designer and manufacturer of top-quality molded cutoff knives and rotary dies. Plainfield, Ill.-based Paper Benders Supply manufactures die shapes ranging from simple windows to complex, custom-designed irregular patterns. ILF has entered into a strategic marketing agreement with Paper Benders Supply. The alliance will afford ILF a unique opportunity for its rotary die cutter line.
In addition, Milan’s Machining & Manufacturing Co., Inc. in Cicero, Ill., the parent company of ILF, will be represented at the show. As a subsidiary of Milan’s Machining & Manufacturing, ILF is a fully integrated manufacturer and is one of the few remaining companies in the graphic arts industry to be able to internally build all major components.
