Bookmasters Now Offering Full CMYK Digital Inkjet Printing

Bookmasters, a leading book manufacturer, now offers publishers a more cost-effective print-on-demand (POD) and SRDP option with the addition of the Océ JetStream 1000 digital ink-jet printer, supported by an inline Mueller-Martini Sigma finishing system.

The quality of the Océ JetStream rivals toner-based and offset printing but is more affordable for short runs and POD. The popularity of POD and SRDP is rising because it allows publishers to minimize return risk; cut inventory financing, obsolescence, and storage costs; save on freight and handling; and get books to market faster. By producing these savings, along with the lower unit print costs, Bookmasters’ inkjet solution increases the cross-over point of digital vs. offset to the 2000-4000 unit range, a very attractive alternative for trade and STM publishers.

“Due to the lower cost per impression and the speed of the Océ JetStream, we now offer even more options for paperback and casebound print-on-demand jobs and for those looking for more affordable color-text jobs,” says Ray Sevin, president, Bookmasters Manufacturing Services.

In addition to the Océ JetStream 1000, Bookmasters offers toner-based digital, web, and sheet-fed offset printing options. Bookmasters’ binding capabilities include perfect binding, case binding, smyth sewing, saddle stitch, double wire-o, comb, plastic coil, Lay-Flat, and trim-four/drill-three for loose leaf.

“With full CYMK inkjet printing, we no longer have to print an entire book in color just to accommodate a few full-color pages,” says Sevin. “The Océ JetStream capabilities allow us to drop in a full-color page anywhere in a book at industry leading prices.”
