manroland, Inc. has announced the recent successful completion of two major press installations, one at Stephenson Printing (Alexandria, VA), the other at Allied Litho Incorporated (Kansas City, MO). Both installations were completed on schedule.

The new press at Stephenson Printing, a ROLAND 706 HiPrint HS with coater, is equipped with many advanced automated makeready features and is capable of operating at speeds up to 18,000 sheets per hour. It is the first of its kind in North America. This press was on exhibit at manroland’s Print Technology Center during Graph Expo. It was disassembled, delivered, installed, and commissioned by a manroland team at Stephenson Printing in time to take on a massive annual project early in December.
Patrick McManus, Project Manager for manroland, said, “Stephenson Printing’s staff is very comfortable with the equipment, since Stephenson Printing has been using manroland equipment for decades. However operating with extremely short makereadies and very high speeds is a new experience for the crew and training will continue as planned through mid-January.”
The new installation at Allied Litho, one of the Midwest’s premier package printers, proceeded in parallel with the project at Stephenson Printing. The company purchased a 56” Roland 900 six color press with UV/IR coater to augment the capacity of a similar 73” press purchased 30 months earlier. It was delivered in time for an open-house in mid-December. The new press will allow the company to keep pace with a rapidly growing package printing business, while balancing workloads in the presses so that one or the other can be taken down at regular intervals for thorough maintenance.
