Plastikoil of Pennsylvania, a full service bindery located in southwest Pennsylvania, recently installed a Rollem Mailstream System. The investment was made to open up markets in the growing mailing and fulfillment portions of the industry, as well as to be able to offer new services to existing customers. The system not only allows Plastikoil to combine traditional finishing processes such as slitting, scoring, perforating, strike-perforating, hot-melt, cold and re-moist gluing, as well as buckle and plow folding, but also provides Plastikoil with the ability to offer highly specialized services such as “horseshoe” pattern re-moist glue and multiple card tipping capabilities, to turn an ordinary mail piece into something extraordinary.
The flexibility, and the modular approach, were both important factors for Plastikoil. “An added benefit to installing the Rollem was that it allowed us to incorporate our existing equipment, such as UV coaters and ink-jetting systems, to run in-line with the Rollem equipment, which saves time and labor”, says Matt Barkley, president of Plastikoil of Pennsylvania. “The system allows us to pick the units, and functions, needed for each specific job, and deliver the product as efficiently as possible”.
