Screen expands range of solutions for the packaging industry
Presents expanded line up plus enhanced features on existing products at drupa.
At drupa Screen demonstrates its strong commitment to delivering high-productivity solutions for the package and label printing industry. An expanded lineup of production solutions featuring both new technologies and enhanced features on existing CtP and digital print devices are a major focus at the show (Hall9/A40).
The growth in internet shopping has seen a clear trend emerging towards brands offering a more diversified, short-run product line. In addition there has also been a related rise in the demand for value-added packaging to further increase product differentiation. As the number of companies introducing supply chain management has grown, more and more package printing companies are being asked to integrate with brand owners’ leaner, “Just-In-Time” production systems, where a particular number of specified items must arrive at a predetermined time.
To address this demand, Screen has introduced a range of products and solutions that meet today’s packaging production needs and pressures. These include the PlateRite series of thermal CtP recorders, with a leading global market share*, and the Truepress Jet series which enables high-speed, high-quality POD (Print-On-Demand) and variable-data printing.
To further streamline and optimise print production, Screen’s EQUIOS Universal Workflow controls and manages output to multiple output devices within a single, flexible and scalable operating environment. Screen has also developed a range of products in the sign and display and industrial printing fields, providing diverse solutions based on UV inkjet printing systems.
Leveraging its considerable knowledge and experience within the entire graphic arts value chain, Screen has now further strengthened its range of solutions for the packaging industry. This includes the PlateRite FX series of CtP recorders, designed for flexo and resin letterpress plates. Offering a maximum resolution of 4,800 dpi and featuring Screen’s renowned proprietary Flexo Dot screening, this new lineup delivers extremely stable high-definition printing, answering the growing need for high value-added package printing.
The Truepress JetSX, the world’s first B2 sheet-fed printing system, now offers a new feature that allows it to print onto substrates up to 0.6 mm (23.6 mil)** thick. At drupa, Screen will show Truepress JetSX samples featuring both UV clear ink-based digital embossing and glitter effects, as well as samples showing digital cutting and creasing to reflect the trend toward diversified, short run and on-demand printing.***
To meet the growing need of the label industry for diversified, short run production, Screen has also developed the Truepress Jet L350UV label printer, equipped with proprietary single-pass greyscale printheads. The same module technology will be developed for use in new imaging system applications in the future.
By strengthening these solutions, Screen aims to expand its share of the growing packaging print market. Screen’s goal is to be a leading supplier in the package printing industry and closely respond to increasingly diverse customer needs.
