A new production era is underway for the printing company Fr. Ant. Niedermayr, established in 1801. The Regensburg-based company commissioned a 96-page LITHOMAN at its recently expanded production site. The printing system was the third to be installed within a brief period from the same series by manroland web systems.
Niedermayr’s objective is to be a defining force in the marketplace, and not simply safeguard the entrepreneurial success of its recent history. These are the aspirations of Johannes Helmberger, owner of Fr. Ant. Niedermayr in Regensburg, Germany. The latest evidence of this progressive approach is the 96-page LITHOMAN with sleeve technology, commissioned this spring. It is part of a 22 million euro investment plan that also includes expanding the production site to 30,000 square meters. Niedermayr is serious about the needs of its target customers and the company invested in printing systems and media services to meet their requirements. With a ROTOMAN press, an 80-page LITHOMAN installed in 2007, and the new LITHOMAN, Niedermayr has boosted its daily production capacity to 200 million A4 pages. This is the equivalent of 250 to 350 tons of paper printed on a daily basis. The 96-page LITHOMAN produces nearly five million pages an hour with a web width of 2860 millimeters. Not only the printing system’s impressive size, but especially its versatile folding technology creates added value. The unique configuration of the press provides a competitive edge: in Regensburg, customers will now be able to obtain products that previously could not be produced in a single production step.
Johannes Helmberger was convinced by the excellent teamwork, both during the installation of the press and throughout the entire investment project: "For Niedermayr, this investment represents a new milestone in the company’s history. In conjunction with its processing possibilities, this press is unlike any other in the world and opens up completely new doors for our customers. I am very grateful that we were able to build this complex system based on our concepts, despite whatever difficulties, and get it up and running on schedule. I don’t think that any other company has the same level of expertise to create this type of system and have it ready for production just a few days after installation." Niedermayr prints high-volume supplements for chain stores and catalogs, and has become a specialist for commercial advertising in recent years, including its own advertising agency, a photography and film studio, and a whole host of Internet services.
