DIGILINE for serializing, coding and printing of booklet labels for pharmaceutical packaging and products.
Various applications and booklet label printing.
Track & Trace module ensures complete product traceability.
The Atlantic Zeiser Group, a leading developer and supplier of modules and integrated end-to-end system solutions for industrial digital and security printing, has expanded its DIGILINE system solutions for printing, coding, serializing and verifying roll materials, sheets and 3D products. The expanded range has been designed for sector-specific applications. On a DIGILINE at ACHEMA (Frankfurt am Main, Germany, 18 – 22 June 2012), the company will demonstrate applications for booklet labels, even for clinical studies, and common requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.
The modular design of DIGILINE includes components for variable inkjet printing on a variety of different materials, verifying the print results and product tracking throughout the entire logistics chain. An OMEGA DoD inkjet printer with environmentally-friendly SMARTCURE UV LED curing system as well as the VERICAM camera-based verification unit are combined with the DIGILINE. The key outstanding feature is the ability to print and code from the first label. In the event of production-related pauses, the BLS machine software from Atlantic Zeiser ensures the transport runs automatically to the point of the last correctly printed label.
Coding with added value
The innovative developments in the DIGILINE meet a common requirement for specialist and booklet label producers, as well as for self-adhesive identification solutions with added value for the chemical, medical and pharmaceutical industry. The result is zero-error production, high print quality and variability for frequently changing print data, all meeting the most stringent safety standards. The degree of variability and flexibility of Atlantic Zeiser’s DoD inkjet solution permits the efficient coding and serializing of minimal batch sizes. The protective transport in particular ensures optimum adhesion of the booklet labels in the printing process.
The urgent need for anti-counterfeiting solutions
Track & Trace integrates easily into a new or existing production line enabling the inclusion of all standard product tracking codes on booklet labels or packaging. The codes include GS1, all types of numeric codes, and 1-D and 2-D barcodes (Datamatrix), which are used to check the legitimacy of the packaging and product online.
Track & Trace also includes an optical checking system. In a quick single step cameras automatically read and verify the selected layout and check the digits. And the solution affords users maximum flexibility when it comes to late-stage customization. If the check code does not match the reference data, the module rejects the packaging. The assigned Track & Trace code can then be added to the packaging in a subsequent print run.
Carl-Michael Heüveldop, Chief Marketing Officer, Atlantic Zeiser, says: "In the challenging markets for special labels, the requirements for variable coding and printing are continuing to rise.
