Océ has announced that Italian print service provider Docugest has invested in an Océ ColorStream 3500 to broaden the range of direct mailing services to satisfy ad hoc requests of their clients in the financial sector.
6.5 million printed pages per day
Docugest operates two production centers in Collecchio, Parma province, and in Castellazzo Bormida, Alessandria. Both facilitate a total production of approximately 6.5 million printed pages per day, mainly produced on Océ continuous feed printing lines and 10 inserting machines which manage about 2 million envelopes a day. The integrated management of communications comprises personal secret codes (i.e., bank or credit card PIN codes, passwords for internet services, etc.) that the banks send in hard copy to customers. Over 5 million PIN codes and other confidential codes are managed every year.
"In the last few years, after the liberalization of the postal delivery market in 2010, our customers asked for additional services with the aim of better understanding the multichannel opportunities offered today by the postal delivery market," explains Fabio Benassi, Director of Operations at Docugest.
Cost containment, speedy production and ad hoc communication
Docugest's customers produce transactional printing linked to statutory communication requirements. They therefore demand cost containment and guaranteed efficiency and speed for their messages reaching clients.
What has become ever more important is the request for ad hoc communication. Some years ago banks used to outsource their communications printing using offset technologies and planned printing weeks ahead. Today banks need to communicate speedily with their customers when they want to promote new financial instruments or new products. They need to be able to send out a direct mailing at any point in time.
Flexibility to print both AFP and PDF
"In order to satisfy these new requirements, productive digital color printing becomes a fundamental tool. We have been Océ customer for many years and we have always appreciated their reliability and robust solutions, as well as the competence of their technical staff," explains Mr. Benassi.
Docugest had assessed other printer suppliers, but Océ had the solution offering the greatest flexibility. Thanks to Océ ColorStream 3500 characteristics Docugest obtained the chance to print both PDF and AFP datastreams. The company undertook printing tests and examined their applications. Now they are able to broaden their range of direct mailing services for the ad hoc requests of their customers.
Move from traditional leaflet printing to instant digital support
By introducing the Océ ColorStream 3500, Docugest can offer an alternative to the traditional leaflet production and uses digital color printing. "When marketing sends us PDF documents we must be ready, flexible and able to respond within a few hours," said Mr Benassi. And for the first time the company is able to offer top quality and high productivity with digital color printing.
"The advantages of producing with the Océ ColorStream 3500 are obvious both for us and our customers: timeliness and flexibility for them, new services to offer for us plus lower costs and new volumes that contribute to increased revenues for both," adds Mr Benassi.
Versatile in transaction, TransPromo and direct mail
"The continuous feed Océ ColorStream 3500 is perfectly suited for Docugest's range of applications in transaction, TransPromo and direct mail," underlines Sebastian Landesberger, Executive Vice President, Océ Production Printing. "This most flexible and versatile full-color inkjet web press will help Docugest to fulfil their demanding customers' requirements for speed and high-quality communications."
And what about the choice of media? "In truth, we discovered that the Océ system is virtually omnivorous when it comes to paper!" said Mr Benassi pleased. Docugest also opted for an on-site Océ technician to be best prepared for timely professional service whenever required.
