Museo Fine Art Partners with Aldine Fine Art for the Restoration of Photographic Masterpieces from 1845 to 1930

Museo Fine Art has announced that Aldine Fine Art has selected Museo Textured Ragä digital fine art paper for use in its photographic research and restoration project of largely unknown photographic images dating from 1845 to 1930. The photographic masterpieces printed on Museo Textured Rag are available to collectors, institutions and businesses searching for photographic images to meet decorative needs and fill collection gaps.

Spearheaded by sporting art and golf historian, Michael Flannery, in collaboration with iconic Master Printer, Joseph Muir, Aldine Fine Art’s collection features 3,500 historically important photographs. The collection captured on damaged, neglected and forgotten glass plate negatives has been personally restored and enhanced by Joseph Muir, and is now available for the first time. The black & white and sepia-toned images are digitally printed on Museo 285 gsm Textured Rag using state-of-the-art Epson presses with UltraChrome archival inks.

“Aldine Fine Art is dedicated to publishing memorable subject matter, creatively presented and executed using state-of-the-art printing, so it was critical for us to utilize the finest archival digital photographic paper available,” said Michael Flannery, Founder of Aldine Fine Art. “After extensive comparative tests with leading papers, it became clear that Museo Textured Rag Fine Art Watercolor Paper was the perfect match. We really liked its weight, look and distinctively textured feel, which put it in a class of its own. Equally important, definition, subtle shadings and rich blacks or warm sepia tones were ideally reproduced. The fact that Museo Textured Rag is 100 percent cotton, acid-free and designed to last for generations sealed our decision.”

Museo products are manufactured to meet Library of Congress and ISO archival standards with all papers being 100 percent cotton, internally buffered to prevent long term environmental acidification, and containing no optical brighteners, which are known to fade over time. Museo papers are designed to meet the needs of the world’s top printers and photographers and are available in common roll and sheet sizes for small, medium, and wide format printing.

“We are honored to be working with Aldine Fine Art on this groundbreaking project as they are masters at retaining the photographer’s vision without cropping or changing composition and content,” said Jennifer Chagnon, Senior Marketing Manager at InteliCoat Technologies. “Museo Textured Rag fits perfectly with Aldine Fine Art’s philosophy of restoring history – providing a delightfully textured, mold-made reproduction, reminiscent of old world cold press watercolor paper.”
