Join the Campaign to Pass Postal Reform Now!
Educate & Mobilize Your Company!
The US Postal Service (USPS) is an essential supply chain partner for the printing and graphics communications industry. And because over half of printed paper products are delivered through the USPS, our industry’s future is at stake without postal reform legislation. Right now, major postal reform legislation to address the financial and structural woes of the USPS is pending in Congress. The Senate has done its part by passing a bill (S. 1789), but postal reform cannot become law until the House acts. The House bill (H.R. 2309) is ready to go, but election-year politics have put a huge road block in the way of progress. Every day the House delays action, the USPS loses $25 million.
What’s the hold up? Congress still doesn’t understand the economic importance of the printing & graphic communications industry and our critical need for a strong USPS. Over 7 million private sector jobs are connected to the mailing industry and depend on a viable USPS to be a key delivery channel. Of that 7 million, over 700,000 jobs are in the printing and graphic communications industry alone.
We need YOUR help! Printing Industries of America is launching a grassroots campaign to tell Congress to Pass Postal Reform Now! Will you add your voice?
The Campaign
This week marks the beginning of a summer campaign to urge Congress to pass postal reform now. Utilizing the August/September in-district work period allows for concentrated messages to lawmakers as they are “back home” in their Congressional districts. Each week Printing Industries of America will lead its member companies through a series of strategic actions to generate support amongst employees, customers, suppliers and local communities. Week one focuses on mobilizing employees throughout the industry – including your company. It’s critical that workers in the industry speak up to demonstrate that postal reform = jobs!
