Tukaiz Gains Compelling Edge by Digitally Producing Print with Dimension

Together, Scodix and HP Indigo technologies drive differentiation for 50-year old printing business in the very competitive direct mail and POP segments

Results in Action

In addition to the USPS, other notable clients that turned to Tukaiz for eye-catching projects with high-quality detail include:

• USO: For the United Service Organizations, Tukaiz produced 2,000 invitations for an event. “We ran the invitations offset, put a soft touch coating on them, and then we applied the Scodix on top,” explains Giandonato. “There was a lot of contrast between the soft touch coating and the Scodix, which made it really stand out. It was a classy-looking piece that really jumped out at you.”

• Jack Daniels: Tukaiz created 1,000 20x20 point-of-purchase posters with raised Jack Daniels’ bottles and added textured sweat, which were sent to distributors nationwide.

• National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame: For an event honoring athletes being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Tukaiz produced more than 2,000 programs with the front and back covers featuring enhanced textures that matched look with feel. The entire program was printed on HP Indigo 5000 and 5500 presses and then Scodix enhancements were applied to give each booklet an even more dynamic dimension.

Design Interest

Tukaiz anticipates that the Scodix system will be at 70% to 80% capacity by the end of 2012 or early 2013. Growing interest is being generated by designers and ad agencies due to the visual impact produced by the press. At the recent HOW Design Conference (Boston / June 2012), creative professionals were very impressed to see the Scodix results, says Misasi, “Even though there were only about 3,800 attendees, we [Tukaiz] handed out over 10,000 samples.”
