Diamond Packaging Wins Seven Awards in National Paperboard Competition
The competition, sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) is a celebration of the industry and its creative potential
Diamond Packaging won seven awards in the 69th Annual National Paperboard Packaging Competition, the industry’s premier showcase for the concept, design, print, performance, and shelf appeal of paperboard packaging. Awards were announced last month at the PPC Fall Meeting & Leadership Conference in Las Vegas, NV.
The competition, sponsored by the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) and judged by a jury of packaging professionals, industry experts, professors, and magazine publishers, is a celebration of the industry and its creative potential. It is also an affirmation of paperboard as the clear and intelligent choice for packaging in today’s eco-conscious world.
Competing against entries from around the country, Diamond received recognition by winning three Gold Awards and four Excellence Awards. The total represents the highest number of awards Diamond has ever won in this competition.
Diamond won a Gold Award for Elizabeth Arden’s White Diamonds Gift Set. Diamond utilized its QuikSet hybrid design, providing an attractive alternative to rigid set-up boxes. The QuikSet structure consists of a lid and reinforced base that gives the feel and finished edges of a rigid set-up box. It also features direct application of graphics and stamping or embossing, flat shipping and storage, and easy set-up.
The carton features metallized polyester board and intricate embossing accents. The brilliance of the mirror-like finish of the metallized polyester film makes it a perfect choice for conveying the striking graphics.
The carton was offset printed with transparent gold, dense black, and opaque white inks, in-line with UV high gloss coating. Exquisite dome-embossed round diamonds add to the beauty and reinforce the White Diamonds brand.
Diamond Contract Manufacturing (DCM) provided fulfillment services, including adding pad stiffeners to the base and lid, fully assembling vacuum form trays, and polybagging the units.
Diamond won a Gold Award for Procter & Gamble’s new Secret Clinical Strength series cartons featuring foil stamping, UV gloss spot coating, and DiamondEmboss coating accents
DiamondEmboss coating creates a unique, raised dimensional profile, without embossing. Distinctive embossed patterns radiate from the front of the carton to the side and rear panels, supporting a brand identity, both cosmetic and feminine in nature.
The graphics were enhanced with an overall matte finish with UV gloss accents, contributing to a visual and tactile presentation that stands out in the crowded retail environment.
Diamond also won a Gold Award for its three-month corporate calendar, a long-standing company tradition and popular promotional item given to customers and suppliers. This year’s jukebox concept takes people back to a nostalgic era — the golden age of rock and roll, drive-in diners, and sock hops.
The calendar illustrates many of Diamond's capabilities, including creative design, Liquid Metal brilliant metallic UV specialty coating, Cast and Cure holographic effects, multi-level embossing, and intricate die cutting. Environmentally-friendly techniques (Liquid Metal, Cast and Cure, produced with 100% wind energy) support Diamond's message of creating innovative and sustainable packaging solutions.
Diamond won an Excellence Award for Australian Gold’s JWOWW by Jenni Farley Gift Set, featuring metallized polyester board, intricate embossing accents, and a unique dual window on the front panel, which dramatically showcases the shimmering body lotion and sleek Eau de Parfum bottle, created by Jenni Farley herself.
