Trelleborg Shows Its Commitment to "Green" Printing by Participating in Print UV 13 Conference
Trelleborg has developed and manufactures printing blankets that enhances results when used in combination with the HUV printing process.
As part of its commitment to “green” print technology, Trelleborg Printing Solutions will participate in the Print UV 13 conference March 3-6 in Las Vegas. In response to the global UV printing industry undergoing rapid transformation and growth, Trelleborg has developed and manufactures printing blankets that enhances results when used in combination with the HUV printing process.
“Trelleborg Printing Solutions has always had a philosophy of protecting the environment as much as possible, and we are eager to partner with our customers as they adopt more sustainable products and procedures,” said Trelleborg Vice President, Sales Development & Marketing, George Christian. “Participating in Print UV will allow us to discuss how we can contribute to customers enhancing their printing processes.”
UV printing differs from conventional printing in that the ink is cured through a photomechanical process instead of by solvents evaporating into the air. HUV is a new UV printing method in which inks are dried immediately on the surface of the paper using high-efficiency UV light. Since there are no noxious ozone fumes, printers can work in a clean, environmentally neutral environment.
When UV inks are exposed to ultraviolet light they turn from a liquid, or paste, to a solid. There is less evaporation of solvents since there is very little absorption of the ink into the stock. As a result, UV printing is effective on unusual substrates, plastics and uncoated stocks. It is quicker, more cost-effective, more visually appealing and also more environmentally friendly, since there are virtually no chemicals released into the air.
Attendees at Print UV 13 will network with printers and suppliers, learn more about core UV processes and hear case studies from successful UV print initiatives around the world. The conference is sponsored by leading UV industry suppliers who seek to promote the growth of UV printing in the global graphic communications industry. The sixth annual Print UV will be held at the Encore by Wynn resort in Las Vegas. To register or learn more, visit www.printuv.com.
