Greg Shapiro, president of H.O.T. Printing & Graphics in Northwood, Ohio received the American Advertising Federation’s prestigious Silver Medal Award on February 28, 2013 at the Advertising Club of Toledo Addy Awards. Shapiro is the first printer to be so honored in the 100-year history of the club.
The AAF's Silver Medal Award Program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. Annually, AAF member clubs bestow this honor upon outstanding members of the local advertising community.
Shapiro, together with his brothers Myron and Norman, is at the helm of this $17 million commercial printing company. Originally, House of Type, started in 1976 by their mother in the basement of their home as a small typesetting company. Ever mindful of changing technology, the company eventually morphed into the current H.O.T. Printing & Graphics, with an additional wholesale envelope company, located on a 50,000 square foot campus with more than 100 employees.
“I am grateful to be chosen by my peers for this honor,” said Shapiro, “my brothers and I look forward to many more years serving our community, both professionally and philanthropically.”
