Allen Press Recognized in 2013 MidAmerica Graphic Excellence Competition for Fifth Consecutive Year

Allen Press was the recipient of 10 awards in the Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica’s Graphic Excellence Competition (GraphEx). GraphEx was created in 1989 to recognize outstanding work in the print media industry.

Orchids Volume 81, Issue 1 won the magazine Best of Category award. Allen Press also received nine Awards of Excellence for various publications, including the Arabian Horse Times 2013 Calendar, Kansas University’s Hall Center Annual Report, Freeblades Core Rulebook, and Allen Press’ newsletter, FrontMatter.

This is the fifth consecutive year that Allen Press has won in the Best of Category. Orchids also won in 2011.

“Receiving a Graphic Excellence ‘Best of Category’ award from Printing & Imaging Association of MidAmerica for the fifth year in a row is an honor and further demonstrates the hard work and dedication that the production crews at Allen Press exhibit on a daily basis,” Dean Mills, Director of Plant Operations said. “I am pleased to accept the award on behalf of all of the employees at Allen Press.”

Judges qualify pieces based on several categories, including binding, use of paper, coating, clarity, and smoothness. Entries in the Best of Category automatically compete for Best of Show recognition. Orchids Volume 81, Issue 7 will be entered into the international Printing Industries of America’s Premier Print Awards.

Allen Press will be honored at the 2013 Awards Gala on May 9, which will be held at the National Airline History Museum in Kansas City, Missouri.
