Case Paper Announces Free "Paper Pro" App for All Apple and Android Mobile Devices

Customers and suppliers now have easy access to comprehensive calculations concerning paper and paperboard grades, weights, and costs

Case Paper believes an educated customer is a more satisfied customer. The 70-year-old paper supplier and converter sees great value in anticipating its customers’ needs, and providing accurate answers. Now there’s a free app for that—Paper Pro.

Not that Case Paper’s staff of 65+ sales representatives minds fielding questions. In fact, that’s another great time to educate current or new clients. Often, customers call to ask about a specific paper grade that, for whatever reason, they are stuck on. Case Paper sales reps relish the opportunity to expand customers’ horizons and open their eyes to attractive options that they hadn’t considered before. It turns out, education and sales can go hand-in-hand.

Paper Pro is also a handy, everyday tool for printers, suppliers, and packaging professionals that need to spec orders, price out options, or calculate quantities or weights. Only a few finger taps separate you from the information you need when you’re on the front lines of a printing or packaging project.

“We made all the Paper Pro calculations truly dynamic, so there are multiple ways to use the app,” says Simon Schaffer, Chief Marketing Officer at Case Paper. For instance, you can use the Linear Footage calculator straightforward to determine the linear footage of a roll of one of 11 different papers from their Roll Width, Roll Weight, and Basis Weight. Or you can use it in reverse to calculate the Roll Weight by inputting the width, linear footage and basis weight you have.

With Paper Pro, you can even look at the formula for each calculator by hitting the “info” button. You can also copy the complete calculation results for later use, or email the results to a client or customer right from the app. And if you’re switching between apps and don’t shut down the app completely, Paper Pro holds the results of the last calculation you made in each calculator, just in case.

Paper Pro is free to install, is ad-free, and includes five easy-to-use tabs. The Paper Calculators tab has eight options in three categories: Sheet Calculators, Roll Calculators, and Price Calculators. The Converters tab provides quick and easy—and dynamic—conversions of common denominations of weights, lengths, and areas used in print production and procurement, as well as a Mil (pt.) vs. Micron conversion calculator. The Tables tab provides 14 tables, slide-rule style, for easy paper measurement equivalency comparisons. About Us contains a link to the full Case Paper website, and a nine-panel slide show about the company’s history and services. Finally, the Contact Us tab contains the phone numbers and addresses of the eight North America locations, and just three taps of your thumb dials the closest sales team directly.

All of these same tools have been offered for years on the Case Paper website. The purpose of the Paper Pro app is to provide quick answers to everyday paper sourcing questions with the mobile tools of today—and minimal finger taps. “Usability was the key driver,” says Schaffer. “It was everything.”

Simon Schaffer and Case Paper’s sales teams believe Paper Pro can be useful in any number of situations, and for several key links in the supply chain. Private purchasers can quickly price out options, converters can confirm quantities, paper sellers and mills can calculate shipping requirements, and printing and packaging professionals can learn about paper options they hadn’t considered before, even if they don’t possess a technical background.
