For the fourth year in a row, several projects were on display at the HOW Design Conference in San Francisco, CA. There, attendees were given the opportunity to select the Wally Award recipients.
“From the numerous submissions we received again this year, it’s evident that designers truly understand YUPO’s unique attributes,” said Bill Hewitt, marketing manager for Yupo. “The quality of submissions that came again this year was incredible – voters definitely had their work cut out for them.”
Immedia Corporate Brochure by Jessica Roberts of Immedia
As a retail design and production company, Immedia produces many displays and graphics on plastic-like materials. These materials don’t work well in brochure-land, so when the search began for the perfect cover stock for their new corporate literature, YUPO Original was the obvious choice. The texture and matte finish of the stock if perfect. The subliminal connection to our daily work lives didn’t hurt either. Immedia also loves the fact that it can be recycled.

New mothers are leaving Chesapeake Regional Medical Center with their bundle of joy and an invaluable “toolkit” that explains life with a newborn. The innovative design of the toolkit, made solely out of YUPO paper, is eye-catching and an exciting gift that fulfills a need in the medical industry. The project benefited over 3,000 families.
DIA de Los Muertos Portrait by Rachael Rossman
Rachael Rossman is a self-taught artist who has worked for a variety of clients doing portrait work. She started using YUPO paper eight years ago and has not painted on anything else since. “I like it because it’s challenging and unique,” says Rossman. “It allows me to use watercolor in a non-traditional manner. Using particular painting techniques to create different colors and textures, Rossman brought her winning piece to life.
