Colter & Peterson to expand horizons with new products and opportunities at PRINT 13

Prepared to meet the challenges for the finishing departments at any commercial, digital or packaging operation, officials of Colter & Peterson (booth #3940) are ready for Print ’13, taking place September 8-12 in Chicago at McCormick Place.  Show attendees will find a host of products awaiting them from North America’s largest independent distributor of paper cutters and paper handling equipment.  The debut of a 57-inch dual rotary knife precision, a three knife trimmer and a variety of cost-effective paper cutters are among the many highlights to see.

“We have many unique finishing solutions and have been looking forward to the Print show for quite some time,” said Bruce Peterson, President of Colter & Peterson.  “I think our new precision sheeter will be very popular with sheetfed offset and packaging printers.  It’s fast, efficient, very cost-effective and built to meet today’s demands.

“Our Saber and Prism series of paper cutters are outstanding products that get the job done and exceed customer expectations.  We will demonstrate a new 45-inch Saber X15 cutter in the Komori America Corporation booth (#1251) as part of the strategic sales partnership to market and sell our ancillary print finishing equipment with the KomoriKare program in the United States.  Taking into account the many options we are making available and the service and training we provide, I expect to see many visitors in our booth.”

The new 57-inch dual rotary knife precision sheeter is impressive and will be demonstrated at the Shanghai Eureka Machinery booth (#2347).  Featuring an innovative, modular design and the newest technology with Siemens electronics, it is powerful and fast and can cut up to 800 feet per minute with a +/- .010 inch cutoff accuracy.  Highly productive and efficient, it develops 57-inch tall skids and offers slitter capacity.

The precision sheeter will be operated in tandem with an Accutrim HD1680 three knife trimmer. Computer controlled for one-man operation, it accommodates a wide variety of book dimensions for quiet and accurate trimming and delivers a 5-degree swing angle to extend the lifecycle of the knife.  User-friendly, the HD1680 provides quick knife adjustment and fast set-up with minor format changes completed in less than one minute, and complete format changes in under three minutes.

The widely successful Saber brand line of paper cutters will be represented with a demonstration of the new 45-inch SaberX15 in the Komori booth.  A heavy duty machine manufactured to ISO-9001 standards with cutting edge technology, this highly reliable cutter offers automatic knife adjustment, Microcut 15-inch touch screen controls and many other outstanding features.

C&P will focus attention on the outstanding Prism series of paper cutters.  Leading the way is the space-saving Prism PC 27-inch model, as well as the Prism 30-inch and 45-inch cutters.

An ideal solution for digital and variable data printing situations, Prism cutters have earned their reputation for outstanding reliability.  State-of-the-art technology starts with the time-saving Microcut computer control system, which boasts more than 30,000 installations worldwide.  It automates the ability for the user to store cutting sequences so the back gauge automatically positions itself for each individual cut.  Programs can be uploaded from a network or with a USB device using CIP 3/4 files.  No additional hardware or software is necessary.

The 4,000-lb. Prism PC 27-inch cutter offers a Microcut system with 12-inch touch screen, and programmable, electronic and variable hydraulic clamp pressure controls.  In addition, it has infrared photo eye safety controls, a two-handed cut release with time delay and non-repeat functions, chrome main and side tables and a low pressure air system with blower.

Sharing a portion of the booth space will be Brandtjen & Kluge, Inc.  The specialty print finishing equipment manufacturer will exhibit the ComFold Folding and Glueing System with a rigid packaging application.  Regarded as the most flexible folder gluer of its class, technical experts will explain how quick changeovers, consistent registration and superior sheet control will help shops that produce folding cartons and other packaging products.
