Autobond, the world renowned UK-based film laminating and spot UV machinery manufacturer, has appointed Malhotra Graphics as its distribution agent in India.
John Gilmore, Managing Director of Autobond, says: “Local distributors play a vital role in helping serve and support a worldwide customer base. The Indian market is becoming an important one for us, with a strong demand for lamination and a growing trend for spot UV varnishing.”
Malhotra Graphics, based in Mumbai, is India’s leading distributor and single point-of-contact for pre-press, post-press, digital printing and finishing equipment. Autobond’s technology will join an impressive product portfolio that already includes other global brands including HP, Fujifilm, Renz and Morgana.
With a good reputation for outstanding build quality, innovative engineering and reliability, Autobond has been manufacturing print finishing machinery for 35 years. The family-run company launched a digital inkjet spot UV machine in 2011, and at drupa 2012 Autobond debuted an inline 36 x 52 spot UV, the entry-level Micro 52 SD TP B2 laminator, the high productivity 120 m/min Mini 105 TPHS B1 laminator, and an offline 52 SUV spot UV inkjet machine.
Bimal Chaku, VP Marketing and Sales, Malhotra Graphics, comments: “We first learnt about Autobond at drupa 2012. We wanted to build on our range of finishing solutions and add laminating and spot UV varnishing to complete our portfolio. Autobond’s selection of thermal and water-based laminators impressed us, as did the company’s offline spot UV machine. The offline capability was vital, as there is plenty of competition for spot UV in the Indian market; however all of it comes integrated with a digital printer. Autobond’s SUV machine gives us that all-important USP to enable our customers to spot UV varnish for premium applications – such as corporate brochures, product catalogues and even packaging – with either a digital or an offset machine. That versatility makes it a very attractive proposition.”
Chaku continues: “There is great demand for finishing machinery in the Indian market, from both digital and offset printers. With everyone recognising how profitable added-value print is, we are confident that with Autobond’s robust and high quality machinery – combined with our service support – we will be able to penetrate the market successfully.”
Gilmore continues: “We’re delighted to have Malhotra Graphics on board. We both share the same vision of the Indian market and we envisage that, by working together, we can ensure customers have the best machinery, service, and support available.”
