The Imaging Network Group (INg) and InfoTrends have established a research partnership to provide deep insights on market trends, production metrics, and customer requirements for transactional and direct mail. As part of the program, InfoTrends will conduct confidential annual surveys with INg members and their customers (large billers and direct marketers), and present summary findings at INg member meetings.
Through the program, InfoTrends will develop benchmark data for INg members to better assess their current state and future initiatives relative to transactional and direct mail, as well as other customer communications services. Focus areas will include:
• Print vs. e-delivery volumes
• Capital investment plans for production printing equipment and software
• Business mix by type of customers (vertical industry, company size)
• Document service expansion opportunities
The program will also include Voice of Customer research to generate insights on the needs of billers and direct marketers using these services. Key topics will consist of:
• Customer communications and transaction document priorities
• Awareness and interest in new document services
• Perceptions on broader technology, services, industry trends
• Expectations and needs from service bureaus and direct mailers

The INg membership encompasses owners, CEOs and top executives from 30 mid-sized document delivery service bureaus and direct mail companies that annually produce over 12 billion laser and inkjet printed pages, 4.2 billion mail pieces for USPS delivery, and 2.5 billion e-Statements.

InfoTrends and INg plan to have the first reports and presentations available by Q1 2014 and will be announcing other programs over the course of the year.
