Christopher Crowley, owner and president of The Crowley Company has reached an agreement to acquire the assets of Integrated Scanning of America (ISA) for an undisclosed amount. “Our two companies have been long-time business partners, working together on imaging projects for geographic and other purposes,” states Crowley. “This next step was an easy decision as we know and respect company principal Manuel Bulwa and have long been looking for the right opportunity to expand our conversion services to the West Coast.” The Crowley Company has had a California presence in manufacturing since Crowley purchased Mekel Technology of San Dimas in 2003.
In operation since 1993, ISA is a certified WBE-MBE 8(a) small business enterprise that performs on-site, near-site, facilities management and off-site document capture and conversion services. Manuel Bulwa, ISA’s President, sees the acquisition as a positive move for current and new clientele. “Our current clientele will not have any disruption in service,” he says. “They will, however, have access to the physical and support resources of a much larger service bureau when needed. Potential Crowley clients that were perhaps unwilling to send their archives out of state now have a close-to-home option. I’m very much looking forward to playing a role in the growth of Crowley’s West Coast imaging division.”
Since 1980, The Crowley Company has served the scanning, digitization and microfilming needs of archivists, librarians, governments and corporations by preserving important documents, records, maps, books, microfilm and other materials through its Crowley Imaging division. Headquartered in Frederick, MD, the service bureau has scanned billions of images from all types of media and from clients around the world. Notes service bureau chief, Crowley co-owner and vice president Pat Crowley, “While we’ve worked with many prominent West Coast institutions over the years, there are just as many or more who hesitate to send their records or archives across country. The purchase of ISA allows us to offer a more convenient location without having to build from the ground up. Manuel and his organization are well-known throughout the industry for their knowledge, expertise and attention to detail. We operate from the same principles and I expect that this will be a very easy transition.”
