The Great Lakes Graphics Association (GLGA) has announced Case Paper is an award winner in the 2014 Graphics Excellence Awards (GEA) competition. The judging was concluded from a field of more than 1,000 entries, and the GEA competition is one of the largest of its kind in the nation.
Case Paper won an Award of Excellence for a promotional poster of aged Scotch Whiskey printed on Case Paper's Sonata Silver. The project's special effects were designed by Color-Logic Design Suite using the Process Metallic Color System. "Our Sonata line of specialty and metallic substrates are certified by Color-Logic ensuring printing integrity and consistency, " commented Russ Pritchard, Director of Marketing at Case Paper. "It produces dramatic effects on our products without the cost of additional equipment and eliminates costly trial and error press runs."
A panel of out-of-state judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work. Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. The judging included registration, crossovers, clarity and neatness, sharpness of halftones and line drawings, richness and tonal qualities of color, paper and ink selection, ink coverage, difficulty of printing, effective contrast or softness, finishing, bindery and overall visual impact.
"This is a significant achievement for Case Paper," said Chuck Argianas, General Manager of Case Paper in Chicago, "It demonstrates our commitment as an innovative paper merchant to support our customers with superior substrates that print reliably and produce dramatic results."
